After a decade spent honing his craft with The Killers, Brandon Flowers is stepping out from the shadows to launch his first solo record, Thrasher. This new project signals a significant musical pivot, inviting listeners to explore sounds rooted in tradition and personal narrative.
Flowers has openly shared the inspiration behind this shift, noting that he discovered a deep affinity for American country-western music as he grew older. He found that the stories he carries felt most authentic when expressed through this beautiful American musical tradition.
The album Thrasher is set to be released on Island Records on August 21. The anticipation is already building, with the lead single, “Plans,” slated to drop this Friday.
The sonic landscape of Thrasher pulls from Flowers’ established work, drawing inspiration from his previous efforts, including the 2015 album The Desired Effect and the 2021 effort Pressure Machine. The resulting collection offers a unique blend of seasoned songwriting and newly discovered roots.
The tracklist for Thrasher includes tracks such as “Does It Ever Cross Your Mind?“, “Tiger’s Blood,” and the evocative “An American Dream,” promising an engaging journey through the artist’s evolving perspective.
