Bloc Party hit by big love on Pigwig
The London-based outfit Bloc Party has dropped a new single, ‘Pigwig‘, and it’s a masterclass in buoyant, heartfelt storytelling. This latest track serves as a warm preview of their seventh studio album, ‘Anatomy Of A Brief Romance‘, which arrived on September 11th via Contagious Music.
‘Pigwig’ dives deep into the beautiful, dizzying moment of realizing you have been hit by a massive wave of love, almost against your will. Frontman Kele Okereke explains that the song is steeped in memory, recalling a romantic seaside trip that marked a magical peak in their relationship.
For Okereke, the song is perhaps one of the sweetest on the album, encapsulating the feeling of that fateful realization. The lyrics beautifully paint a picture of that summer romance: ‘Our summer of love/ Pigwig/ We take your car to the beach/ I load up on treats as the motorway rolls.’
