Beyoncé’s ‘B’Day’ hits No. 1 on R&B Albums Chart

Beyoncé’s musical empire continues to yield chart-topping results, with her landmark album B’Day demonstrating remarkable staying power. The 2006 release has cemented its status as a cultural touchstone, and recently, its expanded edition propelled it back to the forefront of the music world.

The album recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a special expanded deluxe edition, released on September 4th. This expanded version offered fans an even richer experience, featuring 31 tracks that included exciting collaborations with artists like Pharrell Williams and Maluma. It also featured a Spanish-language version of Irreplaceable, creatively incorporating a sample of Selena’s classic 1992 hit, Como La Flor.

The impact of the release was immediate and massive. For the tracking week of September 4th to 10th, the album earned 38,000 equivalent album units in the United States, according to Luminate. This success was driven by robust streaming activity, which contributed 22,000 units and tallied 22.5 million official on-demand streams for the album’s songs, dwarfing traditional album sales of 16,000 units.

This achievement placed B’Day at No. 1 on the Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart, marking the sixth time the album has reached the summit since its launch. It continues to solidify Beyoncé’s standing among the most chart-dominant artists, with her album holding the second-place spot for the most No. 1s in the chart’s history.

Beyond the album itself, Beyoncé’s continued success is reflected in her singles performance. The expanded single “Morning Dew (Donk)” took flight, jumping seven places to dominate the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. This victory made “Morning Dew” Beyoncé’s 14th career leader on that format, further cementing her status as the woman with the most No. 1s on the chart.

The album’s presence across various genre rankings underscores its broad appeal. B’Day also appeared on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at No. 2 and the broader Billboard 200 at No. 8, reflecting its influence across the entire music spectrum.

The enduring success of B’Day showcases how strategic repackaging and powerful creative content can breathe new life into iconic works, ensuring that celebrated music continues to resonate decades after its initial release.
