Bad Waitress announces new album after five years
The wait is finally over for Toronto art punks Bad Waitress. After a significant hiatus, the band has officially announced their sophomore album and their first full LP in five years: In the Hollow.
This long-awaited follow-up marks a palpable evolution for the group, taking the raw energy of their 2021 debut, No Taste, and pushing it into new, darker, and more inward territory. The resulting collection is set to drop on October 30th via Stomp Records.
The mood of the new record is immediately set by the lead single, Loving Kind. With imagery drawn from gnarled, splintered floorboards, the track feels like a testament to the band’s sonic shift—a dive into a space that is both eerie and deeply personal.
The sound of In the Hollow is a reflection of the band’s internal evolution, moving their already volatile punk sound somewhere more mysterious and introspective. This new LP truly captures the essence of what Bad Waitress has been building toward.
The creation of the album was handled internally, with the band producing the ten-track collection themselves. The recording process was handled with precision, featuring engineer Josh Korody at Wychwood Sound, ensuring the raw energy translated perfectly into the final product.
