Back-to-school energy spills over

Back-to-School Energy Isn’t Just for Schools

I hope you managed to soak up those final dog days of summer. Because the moment Labor Day passes, a completely different kind of energy sweeps the industry—a palpable, buzzing feeling of momentum and new beginnings.

While college campuses are certainly rocking with back-to-school fests, homecoming celebrations, and fresh starts, the real world is simultaneously delivering an exciting rush. There is an undeniable shift; the excitement shifts from youthful exploration to focused ambition.

This feeling of forward motion is reflected across every sector. For brand marketers, the focus is sharp: beyond Fashion Week and the Emmys, the industry is converging on major events like Brandweek in Atlanta and Advertising Week. This period is all about congregating, comparing notes, and setting ambitious plans for 2027.

In the music world, the energy translates into massive tours, big releases, and a packed concert calendar. Everyone is jockeying for attention, driving a packed fall concert season fueled by anticipation.

For fans and consumers, the landscape is constantly evolving. New drops are getting weirder and more creative, and collaboration is proving to be a powerful growth hack. The holiday shopping season is just around the corner, and while scarcity can drive immediate purchases, there is a wisdom in waiting for the ultimate holiday discounts.

On a personal note, I am currently setting up shop in New York City, working on exciting projects with some of the world’s biggest intellectual properties, creators, and stages. It’s a time for figuring out how to make communities bigger, better, and more valuable.

My own September live music hit list is eclectic, centered around an appreciation for outside shows. From seeing Young Thug at Central Park SummerStage to catching Yeat, David Byrne, and Snapple Island Ferry Comedy shows, the schedule is packed with unique experiences.

We are all in the final stretch of 2026, and the momentum is building. The idea is simple: summer bodies are built in the winter, but 2027 is being built right now. Let’s finish 2026 strong.
