Art Garfunkel postpones UK tour over illness

Art Garfunkel Postpones U.K. Tour Amid Health Concerns

The anticipated joy of a world tour hit a snag for former Simon & Garfunkel member and solo artist Art Garfunkel. Just weeks before embarking on a planned run of shows across the United Kingdom, Garfunkel had to postpone his What a Wonderful World tour due to a respiratory infection.

The highly anticipated performances were set to begin with a Tuesday night show in Watford, England. However, the artist needed to prioritize his health, following medical advice to rest and recover. Garfunkel shared his decision, noting that even rehearsals were affected, though his wife insisted he keep his scheduled appointment with his physician.

Despite the disappointment, Garfunkel expressed how deeply he wished to share his music with fans. “My heart is broken that I must postpone these performances,” he stated. “To be so warmly received by audiences and surrounded by so much love is a gift beyond words. Singing for you has always been one of the greatest joys of my life, and the thought of disappointing you saddens me deeply.”

The tour, which was slated to take place over the next week, involved performing with guitarist Tab Laven, sharing beloved classics from both the Simon & Garfunkel era and his solo career, including iconic songs like “The Sound of Silence” and “The Boxer.”

While the immediate dates for the shows in Manchester, Wolverhampton, and London remain undetermined, Garfunkel made a heartfelt promise to his audience. He assured fans that he will return to the stage as soon as his health allows, emphasizing that he is in good hands and expects to be fine.

The postponement means the excitement of the tour is temporarily paused, but the commitment to music and connection remains strong. Garfunkel is focusing on recovery, promising that the music will be shared with the same warmth and joy when he is fully ready to return.
