Apple opens state-of-the-art music venue at Battersea Power Station

London’s music scene just got a major upgrade. Apple has unveiled Apple Music Hall, a cutting-edge live music venue situated in the historic Battersea Power Station. This isn’t just a building; it’s a meticulously engineered space designed to redefine how artists connect with their audience, promising performances defined by both intimacy and unparalleled production quality.

The core mission of Apple Music Hall is simple: to close the gap between the artist and the fan. With a capacity of 600, the venue boasts a dynamic 38-foot-wide stage capable of shifting between traditional front-facing sets and immersive in-the-round experiences. This design philosophy ensures that every performance is crafted not just to be heard, but to be truly felt.

But the magic of Apple Music Hall goes far beyond aesthetics. The venue is built as a full production facility, equipped with a 48-speaker spatial sound system. This advanced audio technology allows for breathtaking sonic experiences, while the space also houses two dedicated recording and mix studios, enabling every show to be captured as a multitrack recording and mixed in Spatial Audio.

For artists and fans alike, the possibilities are endless. Performances at Apple Music Hall can be captured with broadcast-ready mixes and multicamera video, all from a single event. This integrated approach means that the raw, intimate moment of a live show can be transformed into a high-definition, globally accessible experience.

Furthermore, the venue is fully equipped for global reach. It is hardwired to support sixteen or more cameras feeding a purpose-built broadcast control room, which seamlessly integrates traditional broadcast feeds with cutting-edge iPhone video capture. This technical setup ensures that the atmosphere of the performance can be streamed globally, allowing fans outside of London to tune in to these exclusive, one-time-only shows.

Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s global creative director, emphasized this focus on connection, noting that the move to open the venue was a commitment to supporting live music in ways only Apple can facilitate. “What better way to celebrate this relationship than a new music venue where we get to experience amazing music in an amazing space and share it with the world,” Lowe said, highlighting the potential for creating lasting musical memories.

The innovation extends beyond the stage and sound. Apple has also utilized this new space for its broadcasting reach, announcing that all of Apple Music Radio’s London-based hosts and shows will now broadcast live out of the newly established studios in Battersea. Apple Music Hall is more than just a performance space; it is a vibrant hub for audio innovation, connecting artists, technology, and listeners in a seamless symphony.
