Alex G Enlivens Teenage Sex Score Soundtrack
The creative synergy between musician Alex G and filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun is hitting a thrilling new peak this month, as they unveil the soundtrack for their latest genre-bending horror feature, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.
This collaboration continues an established pattern of distinctive pairings. Following the success of scores for We’re All Going to the World’s Fair in 2022 and I Saw the TV Glow in 2024, Alex G’s evocative score is now setting the stage for Schoenbrun’s exploration of desire, fear, and delirium.
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma plunges viewers into a surreal, blood-soaked world where boundaries between horror, fantasy, and emotional reality dissolve. The film follows a young director as she attempts to resurrect a fading slasher franchise, encountering a mysterious figure named Little Death in a realm steeped in unsettling imagery.
At the heart of this atmospheric collision is Alex G’s score. The music doesn’t just accompany the visuals; it defines the mood—a bittersweet, dreamlike tension perfectly capturing the film’s blend of genre excess and profound self-discovery. A preview track, “Pain Is the Heart of Love,” showcases this unique sound, featuring Paul Buchanan of the Blue Nile on vocals alongside intricate layers of guitar and orchestral flourishes.
