Created by the dynamic duo Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, this FX anthology has long been known for diving into the darkest corners of human experience, exploring everything from haunted mansions and asylums to witch covens and apocalyptic scenarios. Now, the series is leaning into its legacy, gathering a collection of its most iconic characters and villains for a season that promises to deliver maximum supernatural mayhem.
Producer Ryan Murphy has laid out an ambitious vision for the new season, moving beyond simple reboots. He explained that the goal was not just to explore a new coven, but to delve into the history of the most terrifying figures the show has ever featured. He compared the season’s goal to the cinematic triumph of The Avengers, suggesting that all these legendary evil forces will finally unite to confront the ultimate darkness.
The resulting season will be a masterclass in storytelling, weaving together familiar faces into an epic tapestry of horror mythology. The sheer depth of talent returning for Season 13 is staggering, featuring a cast that spans the show’s entire history.
Among the returning stars, Sarah Paulson returns with six roles, including the chilling matriarch, Cordelia Goode. The iconic Evan Peters is also set to play five characters, including the terrifying duality of Tate Langdon/Rubber Man and Kai Anderson, showcasing his incredible range.
Jessica Lange brings her formidable presence back as multiple figures, including Constance Langdon, Sister Jude Martin, and Fiona Goode, alongside other memorable roles. Other legends joining the fray include Angela Bassett as Marie Laveau, Emma Roberts as Madison Montgomery, and Leslie Grossman as Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt.
The roster is packed with legendary performances, with actors like Mena Suvari, Frances Conroy, and John Carroll Lynch stepping back into their roles. The season also introduces a fresh wave of talent, bringing new faces like Paul Anthony Kelly, Avantika, Madelaine Petsch, and Orlando Jones to the fold.
The season unfolds over 13 half-hour episodes, with the first three installments arriving on Disney+ in the UK on September 25, following its US premiere. The remaining episodes will follow throughout October, culminating in the finale on October 30.
