Aerosmith & Friends Hollywood Bowl Live Tease

The roar of the crowd and the shimmering promise of a comeback are vibrating through the rock world, and the next chapter for Aerosmith is finally beginning to be written. After more than three years away from the stage, the legendary band is preparing for a tease that is as raw and compelling as the music itself.

On Monday, Steven Tyler, the inimitable frontman, teamed up with renowned rock photographer Ross Halpin for a unique visual moment. The pair climbed outside the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, affixing letters to the marquee to spell out the band’s name. The playful interaction captured the spirit of the reunion: Tyler yelled, “Gimme the O! Ampersand! Ampersand!” as Halpin helped complete the spelling of “Aerosmith.”

The moment was steeped in rock history, as the visual tease was set against the backdrop of their classic hit, “Sweet Emotion.” The screen filled with the message: “…all will be revealed tomorrow.” It was a beautiful, subtle hint that the hiatus was over, and the band was ready to share their story again.

The road to this tease has been long and fraught with physical challenges. The band had previously been forced to abandon their planned Peace Out … Farewell Tour in September 2023 due to Tyler’s fractured larynx, which he suffered just three shows into what was booked as their final road hurrah. This injury led to the postponement of the tour and eventually a retirement from touring for the group.

Despite the pause, the creative energy never stopped. During this time, Tyler and Perry continued to explore music, recording an Aerosmith EP with Yungblud titled “One More Time.” Tyler also made singing appearances, including a six-song set at the Grammy Awards benefit for Janie’s Fund and a massive farewell concert last summer with Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.

Joe Perry, the guitarist, shared his perspective on the complex journey of the band. While he wasn’t quite ready to call time on live performances in April, he emphasized that the band remains dedicated to staying connected. He reflected on the fragility of their craft, noting that it has taken Steven years to regain comfort with singing, requiring a year-long break before he could begin stretching his vocal cords.

“Everything we do is fragile,” Perry said. “We just take it day by day. You have to have the confidence and that vision of positive in front of you. You can’t do it unless you envision it.”

Now, with the visual promise made, the full details of the upcoming performances are set to be released on Tuesday morning, October 6. The anticipation is palpable as the rock legends prepare to reveal what comes next for Aerosmith.
