Adam Wiltzie finishes Friendship Survival Guide before Jóhannsson’s death

In the realm of ambient soundscapes and cinematic music, a deeply atmospheric record is set to arrive, offering a long-gestating journey through orchestral psychedelic drone. This compelling LP features the late Jóhann Jóhannsson and serves as the culmination of an ambitious collaborative project.

The album offers listeners an immersive experience, built upon a foundational concept that began in 2013 between artists Adam Wiltzie and Jóhann Jóhannsson. It is a profound exploration of sonic textures, weaving together the grand scale of orchestral sound with hypnotic, psychedelic undertones.

This project expanded beyond its initial vision through the involvement of several acclaimed musicians who contributed to the unique tapestry of sound. Additional contributions came from Tim Hecker, Steve Albini, and Francesco Donadello, enriching the drone with diverse and compelling perspectives.

The completed body of work is slated for release on 18 September, distributed via Deutsche Grammophon, ensuring that this piece of experimental music reaches a wide audience through a respected label.
